Linux Terminal Server Project: LTSP is open source software for "diskless workstations that boot from a network server. The LTSP is all about running thin client computers in a GNU/Linux environment."  Converts minimal old PC's with no disks and bootable network cards to thin linux clients.  Good for cheap used gear, should require less power as well.  Happy user in Philippines reported in Jan 2003.  Full manual available in English, Spanish, 3 other languages.  1:50:37 PM  permalink  

Neoware thin client products: Makers of thin clients, some of which have embedded IE browsers.  Also sells ThinPC software to convert old PCs into thin clients.  IBM resells their gear.  Terminal prices $250-500.  Some models may run Linux.  Also, Wyse had a model 5355SE in 1999 that was Linux based.  1:48:05 PM  permalink  

Mobile BGAN satellite broadband access: Good description, with price list.  Has Ethernet, USB and bluetooth interfaces. Has laptop-style internal rechargable battery, rated for 24 hours standby or 1 hour full transmit operation between charges.  10:24:56 AM  permalink  

Thuraya satellite phones: Good summary of service with prices.  "The handset can be used as a Satellite only, GSM only, or auto switching between the two, subject to the type of airtime package chosen."
