NYT columnist Tom Friedman, Jan 2: "The most obvious bold national project that Mr. Bush could launch now — his version of the race to the moon — would be a program for energy independence, based on developing renewable resources, domestic production and energy efficiency." He was interviewed later on the Imus radio program and said the two most popular columns he has written since 9-11 based upon response from readers were this one and a similar column that appeared on Dec. 9 in the NYT, entitled "Ask Not."
